LECTURES:

WEEK10:
This week, Mr.YUSOFF showed us a brand-new software AE, which will be used in our later homework. In class, Mr. YUSOFF mainly used a previous Photoshop picture as a template to tell us knowledge.

INTRO TO AFTER EFFECTS

- Basic understanding on how to link Adobe Photoshop layers into After Effects.
- Understanding the compositing concept from still images to moving images.

We will use the composition provided to complete an animation exercise using Adobe After Effects.

To complete
1. Download the PSD composition below:
2. Import the W10_ANIMATE.psd into Adobe After Effects.
3. Create a composition setting 1080 px (Width) x 1920 px (Height), Duration 15 second
4. Create a keyframe animation to the layers using Position (P), Scale (S) & Masking path.
5. Render output: Quicktime (.MOV) or .MP4
6. Upload your exercise into your Youtube Channel.
7. Update your progress and video to your E-Portfolio blog.
8. Attach your E-Portfolio link on this Submission

What is After Effects?

Adobe After Effects takes a different approach for creating movement.

Motion graphics animation works by manipulating vector and rasterized art to create and tell a story.

You can integrate physical based media as well through photographs and videography.

Compositing Layers in Photoshop

Basically Photoshop is a platform to compositing the layers.

All the layers need to be arrange and rename accordingly so that it will be organize and easy to be animated in

Compositing Layers in

After Effects

Adobe After Effects is a digital visual effects, motion graphics, and compositing application.

Basically we can import elements such as images, video, vector and more into After Effects.

All the layer elements need to be organized and synchronized to the external software platforms such as Photoshop & Illustrator.

After Effects files does not embed its media, it links to it.

Week11-14
The teacher briefed us on the final task and instructed us how to complete it. Another is to explain the basic composition, pointing out the necessity of photographic materials as the main object. In addition, there are weekly questions and answers and progress checks.

WEEK10:

AFTER EFFECTS EXERCISE

Before I started to practice, I chose to watch the demo video of Mr. Yusoff‘s class again, because I found that I still did not understand a lot of things.
Demo video

Even though I practiced with Mr. Yusoff's demo video, it still took me an afternoon to complete my own practice.

WEEK11

 IDEA DEVELOPMENT

SKETCH2

Eventually, Mr. Yusoff suggested that I could continue with my sketch two.

WEEK12
1. Create a digital poster based on your sketch
Below is my reference photo

Since I prefer electronics and the pixel style of the 1990s, I chose a closer image.

Besides that, I also enrich my work by finding different types of electronic elements and pixel-style materials.

Finally, I used some elements from these pictures to form my work.

DIGITAL POSTER PROGRESS #2

WEEK13 For this week's assignment, Mr. Yusoff suggested that I choose the second digital poster, and suggested that my background adopt a burr like feeling, in addition, my monitor can also be designed as a flickering dynamic, etc., I very much agree with Mr. Yusof's opinion.

At first I decided to take Mr. Yusoff's advice and try to design the display as a flickering electronic pulse, so I went to youtube and downloaded some videos.

In addition, I designed the smiley face to rotate dynamically from the bottom up, in contrast to the left and right movement of the other pop-up window frames.

In order to better fit the overall style, I chose a more upbeat background music, while using Mr. Yusof's suggestion to design the background with a burr feel of electronic glitch, that is, no signal background.

FINAL POSTER

TITLE:

ARTIST STATEMENT:

The production of this poster is in line with my hobby, which is some electronic products and retro electronic elements. Besides, I think the up-and-down smiling face is also a true portrayal of my daily life emotions, and the flickering background is also in line with my emotional ups and downs.

At the end of the project, Mr. Yusoff affirmed my work and gave some new suggestions that could take me further.

FEEDBACK
week10:
This week, we got our hands on a new software, AE, and used it to complete a series of exercises, in my opinion, it seems to be more difficult than PS, because there are many aspects to consider, such as frame rate and export issues, but I am confident.

week11:
We started a new project and started to prepare sketches and ideas for this project. I had many ideas for this project, such as combining my selfie with some electronic elements, and finally I expressed them in my sketch. Mr. Yusoff suggested me to continue with my sketch 2.

week12
So far, this project is progressing smoothly. In my spare time, I also watched other students' works, each of which has its own characteristics, which is also the reason why I am interested in this project, because I can independently design works that meet my image and set them with dynamic music.
This week is mainly about the digitization of the sketches, and I mainly use colorful and cyberpunk-like elements to design, because I am more interested in this aspect, and I can learn from my own interests.
In this week, with the guidance of Mr. Yusoff in class, I practiced the second sketch digitally. During the production process, I considered many issues, such as how to arrange the size proportion and color balance of characters and various elements. Finally, I finished my digital poster by referring to some materials on pinterest.

week13
In this week's class, Mr. Yusoff gave me a lot of advice, for example, Mr. Yusof suggested that I choose a second digital poster, and suggested that my background should have a burr feel, in addition, my monitor can also be designed to flicker dynamic, etc., which I used in my animation.

week14
This week, Mr. Yusoff reviewed my final self-described animation work and gave me great approval, which is undoubtedly the most happy for me. After that, Mr. Yusoff also made some new suggestions to me, which I think can take me further.
In general, this animation software harvest is not only a new software application, more is a sense of satisfaction and acquisition.

Reflection:
For me, this task is a challenge that combines the software and photography knowledge I have learned before. In this process, I have a better understanding of myself in photography. For the application of software, AE is undoubtedly a big and difficult challenge, but Mr. Yusoff taught me not to do last minute work, which I have always taken to heart, so I insist on completing a quantitative task every week, and I am grateful that this task has helped me to learn more efficiently.
