FEEDBACK
REFLECTION
This week, I started making my 3D model. Since I chose the exterior, I
first divided the building into several individual props for
modeling.
First, there is the dragon head part on the left. The dragon head part is
not easy to make because it has some structures that are rather difficult
for me, such as teeth and some protruding bone spurs.

Then there are the dragon claws and bones on the side of the dragon
head. This part is relatively less difficult compared to the dragon
head, but it is still necessary to pay attention to the structure at
the connection points of some bones.

After finishing the dragon head part, I began to make some detailed
props for the building, such as the skull decoration hanging on the
tent.

week13
This week I started making the props for the other parts.
First is the flag. During the production process, I tried to
combine some skull shapes and bones to enrich its appearance.
Fig13.1 Flag modeling
After completing these external props, I began to make my main
part.
First of all, I made the general outline and shape of the tent.
This process is easier compared to those props because there
aren't too many complex shapes.

After completing the basic shape, I began to subdivide the fabric on the surface of the tent.

After that, I began to gradually improve some minor details,
such as the shape of the tent fabric. I tried to adjust their
appearance to be closer to a soft one.

After making the adjustments, I combined the props I had made
earlier with the tent.

week14
For the color of my tent, I chose to make a change based on
the original color. The overall color is dark blue. Compared
with the previous color, I think this color has a more
fabric-like feel. Besides, there is also more color
contrast.
To better adapt to the feel of this fabric, I added some
materials and textures, making it look more realistic.

After that, I colored each part separately. Below is the initial
color. It looked too light and wasn't as I had imagined, so I
readjusted the color.
Fig14.2 Preliminary color
I darkened the color a little, and it looks better now.
Fig14.3 Adjust the color
After the color was right, I started to adjust the lighting.
I chose the side top light, which has a stronger contrast.

After completing these, I exported the final architectural
pictures. And the final product pictures of each prop.

FEEDBACK
The individual props are well done, but pay attention to the materials of
different props. Bones might be relatively rough, while fabrics have a
more delicate feel. Keep improving your model.
REFLECTION
Experience
Through this project, I have learned that breaking down complex
environmental structures is a key method to enhance efficiency and
controllability. Breaking down the environment into multiple modules
for production has made me more flexible in the modeling,
modification and rendering stages. I have also gained a deeper
understanding of the relationship between materials, colors and
lighting, realizing that they are also part of the language of
environmental design, not just technical operations. More
importantly, this project has taught me to constantly reflect on my
design choices during the creative process, shifting from merely
completing tasks to thinking about "why it is designed this way and
how it can be further optimized". These experiences will have a
long-term impact on my future study and creation of environmental
design.
Observation
Looking back on the entire creative process, I found that in the early
stage, I tended to think while doing and lacked a clear overall plan,
which led to a certain degree of rework in the later stage. This made me
realize that in environmental design, the early conception and layout
planning have a direct impact on the overall efficiency. At the same
time, I noticed that I had devoted a lot of effort to individual props
and local details, but my expression of the overall sense of space and
environmental narrative was relatively insufficient. As an environmental
design project, my focus sometimes leans towards "model completion",
while neglecting the overall experience of the viewers in the
environment.
Findings
During the production process of this Final Project of environmental
design, I gradually realized that environmental design is not simply
completing the model, but a process that requires constant trade-offs
among the overall structure, the complexity of details and the visual
effect. Decorative elements like dragon heads, skulls and flags,
although they can enhance the atmosphere, also significantly increase
the workload during modeling, making me realize that the assessment of
complexity in the early stage is very important. At the same time,
color, material and lighting play a decisive role in shaping the
environmental atmosphere. By repeatedly adjusting the color of the
tent and using the side upper light source in the rendering, I could
clearly sense the improvement of the work in terms of spatial
hierarchy and volume. This made me realize that good visual effects
not only depend on the model itself, but also on the overall visual
adjustment in the later stage.
