Lectures :

Week 5 (21/MAY/2024)

1. EXPOSURE SETTING
In photography, exposure is the amount of light which reaches your camera sensor or film.
Fig.1.0 Exposure
The main parts of the camera:
Camera body, Shutter, Image sensor, LCD screen, Camera lens, Aperture/ Iris.
Fig.1.1 Exposure Triangle
Aperture: The aperture/aperture controls the light flow into the lens. Aperture/aperture is measured by the aperture. (The lower the F-number, the larger the aperture of the lens.)
Shutter: A shutter is a small plastic piece that can be opened and closed to allow light to enter the film or prevent light from reaching the film.
Shutter speed: Shutter speed is measured in seconds.
Fig.1.2 Shutter Speed
· ISO: Originally referred to the sensitivity of film—it's "light gathering" ability.
(The lower the number of ISO the less sensitive your camera is to light and the finer the grain. )
2. LENS PERSPECTIVE
The are wide angle lens, standard lens and tele lens.
Fig.1.3 Lens Perspective
Lenses can be categorized by FOCAL LENGTH(the shorter the focal length, the wider the angle of view and vice-versa.).
Fig.1.4 Focal Length

DEPTH OF FIELD:  The proportion of the image that is reasonably sharp and in focus.
Fig.1.5 Depth of field
The smaller the aperture, the greater the depth of field.
Wide-angle lenses are especially good for landscape or street photography. (Almost everything is in focus)
Standard lenses provide a fairly accurate view of what the human eye is seeing, both in terms of viewing Angle and perspective.
Telephoto lenses are great for isolating distant subjects.
3. DSLR V.S SMARTPHONE
Smartphones vs Cameras = Convenience vs Quality
PRO: Familiar with device, Good quality, Easy to learn
CON: Still limited, Good but not great, Non-ergonomic shape

Week 6 (28/MAY/2024)
In this lesson we reviewed and emphasised again the fundamentals of principles of design.
The fundamentals of principlesof design are first emphasis and the second balance and alignment , contrast, repetition this proportion , movement and then we have white space before.

Instruction

Practical

Exercise1(Week5: HEARST MANSION)

I did Hearst Mansion Exercise following the tutorial video.

                             Process of Hearst Mansion Exercise

Final outcome of Hearst Mansion Exercise

Final outcome of my version of Hearst Mansion

Exercise2(Week6: Recoloring Black & White)
Part1
In week 6, we are to recolour a black and white image following this YouTube tutorial by Mr. Martin.
I followed the video to make my photos, and fortunately, I didn't have any difficult problems.

Part2
For part 2 of Exercise 2, we are to follow along with this demo of advanced recolouring.

After completing the demo image, we have to select one black & white image from the Google Drive provided.I chose blackpink-lisa.

Feedback
Week5
I followed the video to learn, the process is relatively smooth, I can also use the Photoshop skills learned in other exercises.
Week6
Coloring learning for me is no less than collage, because it is spent in play, because it is not boring, more is the freshness of the first contact and the satisfaction of trying successfully.

Reflection

Through the study of this assignment, I learned a lot of skills about the use of PS. To my delight, this assignment was really enjoyable. While I learned knowledge, the freshness and surprise made me more impressed by this assignment.
