REFLECTION
Experiences
During the design process, I deeply realized the importance of systematic thinking, which is the core of balancing creativity and practicality. At the same time, the details of the design determine the texture of the work, and the fine adjustment of the font such as stroke thickness and proportion optimization is particularly critical. In each design iteration, through repeated revisions and reflections, I identified potential problems and optimized the end result. In addition, when designing across media, it is crucial to pay attention to the impact of materials and environments, as the effects on the screen may differ from those on the real thing. Finally, following the specifications of the existing font helps the design remain recognizable and functional when extracting and modifying the font.
Observations
Through observation, I realized that every tweak in font design significantly affects the visual language and messaging. Typesetting systems, such as grids and axes, are not only technical tools, but also effective ways of expressing visual logic. I also found that different media have their own requirements for typeface design, such as the special emphasis on clarity in print. Innovation in good design usually comes from a modest break with the rules, not a complete subversion. In addition, the viewer's experience of the design often comes from the manipulation of details, such as color matching and font spacing.
Findings
In this study, I found that good font design needs to find a balance between creativity and function, which can attract attention and convey information clearly. At the same time, rules and systems are not only limitations, but also a framework to stimulate creativity. Only by understanding the nature of rules can we better break through. The ultimate value of design lies in its application, and design that is consistent across different mediums and scenarios is successful. I also realize that font design is a language of communication, and good design can make the audience feel the designer's intentions. Continuous learning and observation of excellent works have continuously improved my understanding and sensitivity of font design.
